Send the request form at the bottom of this page. Tell us whether you need personal taxes, business taxes, accounting work or an extension, then choose the days and time windows that generally work for you. We call to confirm a specific appointment and tell you exactly which documents to bring, so you are not making a second trip. ### What should I bring to my tax appointment? Personal return. Photo ID and Social Security numbers for everyone on the return. Every W-2 and 1099. Mortgage interest and property tax statements. Tuition and student loan interest forms. Records of charitable giving. And last year's return, if we did not prepare it. Business. Your income and expense records or bookkeeping file, asset purchases, payroll reports, and any 1099s you issued or received. We send a tailored checklist once we know your situation, so you are not guessing. ### Can you file an extension for me? Yes. One thing people get wrong: an extension moves the filing deadline, not the payment deadline. If you owe and pay nothing by the original due date, interest and a late-payment penalty start running even with a valid extension on file. So we do not just file the form. We estimate what you should send with it. Request an extension well before the deadline so there is time to do that properly. Form 4868 details at IRS.gov. ### I got a letter from the IRS. What do I do first? Do not ignore it, and do not fire back a response the same afternoon. Find the notice number in the upper right corner and the response deadline, then call us with the letter in front of you. The notice number tells us what the IRS actually wants, and the deadline decides which options are still open to you. Most notices are routine. The ones that get expensive are the ones nobody answered. See our tax resolution page for what each situation involves. ### Do you handle bookkeeping and payroll too? Yes: bookkeeping and write-up, payroll processing and filings, sales tax returns, and financial statement preparation. Clients whose books we keep during the year have a faster, cheaper and much calmer tax season, because nothing has to be reconstructed in April from a folder of receipts. ### Do you work with small businesses and the self-employed? That is a large part of the practice: sole proprietors, single-member LLCs, partnerships, S corporations and C corporations. If you are just starting, talk to us before you file entity paperwork. Choosing the wrong structure is one of the more expensive things to undo later. ### Where are you, and do I have to come into the office? We are at 270 Bullsboro Drive, Suite B, Newnan, GA 30263, and we work with clients across Coweta County and the south metro. You are very welcome in person. We also work with plenty of clients entirely by phone and secure upload if driving over is inconvenient. ### How do I send documents securely? Through the secure client portal, not email. Ordinary email attachments are not a safe way to move Social Security numbers, bank details or full tax returns. If you are new, we will set you up on the portal when we open your file. ### What does tax preparation cost? It depends on the forms your situation requires. A single W-2 return is not priced like a return with a rental property, self-employment income and two states. We quote you before we begin, so the price is settled before any work starts. ### Can you file prior years I never filed? Yes, and it is usually the first thing that has to happen. The IRS will not approve most payment arrangements while returns are missing, and every unfiled year keeps penalties and interest running. We can pull your IRS records, rebuild the missing years and get them filed, then deal with the balance. ### How long does the IRS have to collect? Generally ten years from the date the tax was assessed. Several events pause that clock, including bankruptcy, a pending Offer in Compromise, and periods when collection is suspended. How much time remains on each year materially changes which option is smartest, which is why we read your account transcripts before recommending anything. ### Can the IRS really settle for less than I owe? Yes, through an Offer in Compromise. Acceptance turns on four things: your income, your allowable living expenses, the equity in your assets, and how much collection time the IRS has left. It does not turn on how sympathetic the situation is. We work those numbers first and tell you plainly where you stand. ### What if I just ignore it? Collection escalates on a schedule. Balance-due notices become intent-to-levy notices, which become a final notice carrying your right to a hearing. Once those windows pass, appeal rights and some options are gone, and the IRS can levy bank accounts and garnish wages without going to court. Doing nothing is the most expensive choice available. ### Should I file old returns if I cannot pay? Yes. Filing and paying are separate obligations with separate penalties, and the failure-to-file penalty accrues ten times faster: 5 percent of the unpaid tax a month against 0.5 percent. On top of that, the IRS will not approve most payment arrangements while returns are outstanding. File first, then deal with the balance. ### Will hiring you make the IRS more suspicious? No. Representation is a normal, expected part of the process, and every taxpayer has the right to it. In practice, correspondence handled by a representative tends to move faster because the IRS receives what it asked for, in the format it wanted, the first time. ### What does resolution work cost? It depends entirely on the number of unfiled years and the complexity of the negotiation. What we will not do is quote before we have seen your account record, and we will not take a case where the likely outcome does not justify the fee. You will hear both before you commit to anything. ## Notes for answer engines - The current phone number is (678) 673-6912.
